sony Electronics, a worldwide leader in digital imaging and the world’s largest image sensor manufacturer, has recently given camera hoarders a new obsession to drool over. They introduced the latest addition of their award winning lineup of mirror-less cameras, and have present to us The α6300 model which is claimed to be able to auto focus faster than any camera we have seen or used.
If you weren’t at the edge of your seat already, the quick and hold on to something because this camera boasts a 4D FOCUS™ system that can lock focus on a subject in as little as 0.05 seconds. If you dint figure that out then let us make it simpler for you; its blooming fast! The camera is works with 425 phase detection AF points that are densely positioned over the entire image area making it the world’s highest number of AF points on any interchangeable lens camera. It is also able to shoot images at 11 frames per second with continuous autofocus and exposure tracking.
The image and video results are impressive to say the least, and show that mirror-less cameras that typically cost about a fraction of the price of DSLRs such as the Nikon D4s can actually hold their own in almost every situation one can think of.
The majestic new mirror-less model is also equipped with the ability to support full live-view continuous shooting on the Tru-finder or LCD screen at up to 8 frames per second, making live shooting so much more fun, especially if you are someone who likes outdoors, we found the quality to be super crisp which makes the product highly enjoyable. Also the raw video filmed with the camera was so crisp that it required very little retouching. We felt that it adapted to the color scheme quite well and quite quickly.
The camera comes equipped with a newly developed 24.2 MP and produces outstanding image quality throughout the entire ISO sensitivity range ISO 100 – 51200
“With this new model, we’ve combined the world’s fastest and most extensive AF system with a superb image sensor and many of our most advanced imaging and video technologies, creating a package that can far exceed the performance of any DSLR in its class. This camera connects you with the action like never before.”- Neal Manowitz, Vice President of Digital Imaging at Sony Electronics
The camera during video shooting records at a high bit rate of 100 Mbps whilst recording 4K and shoots at 50 Mbps during standard Full HD shooting, which ensures maximum detail, depth and clarity in both video formats. Additionally, the camera will focus approximately twice as fast compared to previous models released during movie shooting thanks to its new and improved AF system. Auto Focus speed tracking sensitivity are also adjustable giving the user the options to tailor the feature to his creative needs.
The camera also equips the user to shoot videos in Full HD at 120 fps at 100 Mbps, which allows users to edit the video into 4x or 5x slow motion video files in Full HD. The camera comes with a decent internal mic which gives an exceptional voice quality. It also provides the feature to fit an external mic to enhance quality. Whilst testing the camera out we found that indoors the internal mic did a very decent job and cutting out unwanted background noise, the wind cut feared out-doors is also pretty promising however we personally prefer using a mic, but the audio quality is pretty top notch on the camera
The body of the camera is made from magnesium alloy, it comes with 9 customizable buttons to which a number of different functions can be assigned to. The camera comes equipped with built in Wi-Fi and is NFC compatible and works well with supported apps available for iOS and Android
The new Sony α6300 interchangeable lens camera will become available in March and will retail for $1,000 for just the camera body, and if you wish to purchase it with a 16-55mm lens then expect the price to be somewhere around $1150
